Who is Creative Team?

If you want to be part of taking the show from script to stage, the creative team is the place to be.
  • Stage Direction - The director and assistant directors who steer the overall creative vision of the show and work with the cast and crew.

  • Vocal Direction - The vocal director and their assistants work with the cast to teach and polish all the vocal music in a musical. The vocal director also works with the accompanist.

  • Choreography - The choreographer and their assistants create the dance and movement sequences for a show, usually a musical.
  • Musical Direction - The musical director/conductor leads the orchestra for a musical.

  • Stage Management - The stage manager and their assistants (ASMs) attend all rehearsals, learn all the cues in the show, and manage cast rehearsal attendance. The stage manager also calls all the tech cues during the show; the ASMs work in the wings making sure the cast and crew are in the right place at the right time.

  • Dramaturg -  The dramaturg acts as a resource for cast and crew members in order to help clarify and further delve into the historical and cultural significance of the show. For more information on this relatively new position, click here .

Who is Tech Crew?

Our shows would not be possible without our tech crew working behind the scenes to make our actors and sets look and sound great!
  • Sound - The sound team deals with microphones, mixing, and sound effects when needed, making sure everyone is heard - at the right moments, that is!

  • Lighting - The lighting department rigs the lighting equipment and designs lighting sequences for the show.

  • Scenic - The scenic team collaborates with the scenic designer to create the vision and build plans for the show's set. The scenic team helps pick out and purchase the materials to build the set and is heavily involved in Set Build Days. The scenic team may help out with stage crew to move set pieces.

  • Props - The props department is in charge of buying, borrowing, or making every prop used in the show. The props team also runs the prop table, helping to organize and hand out props during the show.

  • Costumes - The costume designer and assistants are in charge of costuming the cast. They buy, borrow, alter, or create costume pieces. Sewing skills are a plus, but not required.

  • Hair & Makeup - The hair & makeup team keeps everyone looking beautiful on stage and decides the hair and makeup styles for each cast member.
Technical designers and creative team members are typically more experienced in techie matters, and they are the leaders of their department for the show. Tech assistants can be total pros or total rookies - as long as you're enthusiastic, we'll be stoked to have you aboard! Every member of the tech and creative teams is crucial to making the show a success. After all, there is no small role!
