WHO WE ARE

HOOLIGAN Theatre Company is an entirely student run theatre company on UCLA's campus.

Founded in 2006, HOOLIGAN provides an educational theatre experience to students of all majors. We offer an all-inclusive environment, providing a place for students to call home on the UCLA campus. Because of its vast opportunities and community-based mentality, HOOLIGAN prides itself in the far-reaching effects it has on people's lives.

Sounds great! Now, how do I join?

Glad you asked! It means that throughout the year, we are thrilled to include Bruins of all experience levels and backgrounds in every aspect of our many productions and projects! If you’re wondering, here’s a sample of what HOOLIGAN does every year:
  • 3 Mainstage Musicals
  • Cabaret-style Educational Showcase
  • Alumni Panels
  • 1 Mainstage Play
  • 24-Hour Musical: An event to benefit No Limits
  • Theatre workshops for LA schools
  • One-Acts Festival
  • Educational workshops and events for Bruins
  • Fun events and bonding

Awesome! Where (and when) can I start?

We get that a lot, so we've put together a handy breakdown of how you - yes, you - can get involved! Read on:
  • AUDITION FOR A SHOW! We generally host auditions for our shows 2-3 months before the show opens; keep an eye out for audition opportunities at the beginning of each quarter. Whether you're a seasoned veteran of the stage or just testing the waters, we want you to audition! Check out our Auditions page to see what's coming up next!

  • JOIN THE TECH TEAM! Techies behind the scenes are just as important as the actors in the spotlight. For each show, we need talented and enthusiastic directors, designers, and assistants to work on props, set building, lighting, sound, hair and makeup, and more! No experience necessary - there's a place for everyone on the tech team. Tech interviews happen around the same time as show auditions; some positions may be filled earlier or later on. Head to our Tech Information page to check out what's coming up.

  • APPLY FOR STAFF! Our Staff is the beautiful group of HOOLIGANS who run HOOLIGAN! There are 9 Staff departments, and Staff works tirelessly to keep HOOLIGAN going strong throughout the year. There are usually two rounds of Staff hiring: one in the beginning of Fall, and another in the beginning of Spring. Individual departments accept interns based on departmental needs.

...And last but certainly not least, we welcome everyone to join us as an audience member!
We want the whole community to enjoy our amazing productions, which is why tickets for current UCLA Students are always FREE. We also sell reasonably-priced tickets to the greater community, and ticket sales help us sustain the highest level of theatre production quality in our shows.
