Mission Statement
As an educational theatre company on UCLA’s campus, HOOLIGAN strives to increase accessibility to and quality of theatre education for students both at UCLA and in the greater-Los Angeles area.
On Campus (and Virtual) Events
Join us for an online workshop if you are a UCLA student! Whether it be in preparation for your next audition or just to fine tune some skills, HOOLIGAN’s Education Department offers a wide variety of free workshops tailored to UCLA students. Follow HOOLIGAN on social media to stay up to date with what workshops are happening soon!
Education also plans and produces a variety of events specifically geared towards UCLA students. We facilitate and teach workshops on campus for both non-HOOLIGANS and HOOLIGANS alike. These involve a variety of performing skills, as past workshops have occurred in the subjects of Directing, Monologue Analysis, and Music Theory for Singers. Check out our most recent virtual dance workshop for "Blinding Lights" here!
The department also runs HOOLIGAN’s #events to welcome casts and crews to new productions and offers performance opportunities through our open mic-night cabarets, called Music and CHILLIGAN.

Annual Educational Matinee
The Educational Matinee is a program HOOLIGAN offers in which we perform one of our Winter Rep shows and invite classes from middle schools and high schools located around UCLA to attend at no cost. Education Staff members develop and teach a curriculum about the show to students, coordinate a talk back for the students post-matinee with cast and crew members of the show, and organize transportation for schools with the help of campus grants. In the talk back portion, members from the cast and crew talk about their experiences in HOOLIGAN and the specific show, in addition to answering questions from the audience.
In addition to planning the Matinee event, the Education Department creates an educational packet for the Winter Rep show performed. These packets contain background information about the show and the individuals who put it on. Click the links below to check out some of our past educational packets!
