Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George, loosely based on Georges Seurat’s creation of the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, follows a multi-generational story detailing the conflict and isolation of being an artist, as well as highlighting the beauty and connection that comes with it. Act I details the creation of the painting by Seurat, while Act II skips forward to follow his great-grandson, who also happens to be named George. |
